A message from our Camp Director

Mallory Hanes

DHDC is so excited to offer Summer Dance Camps this year! What better way to enjoy summer, than dancing and building new friendships along the way. We can not wait to dance, play and create with new and familiar faces!  DHDC camp offers kids the opportunities to explore various styles of dance, and get creative with themed activities, games and crafts. It is sure to be a memorable experience and one that I am thrilled to be a part of. Let the countdown begin!

What to expect at camp!

Dancers will be placed in groups based on their age and taught by experienced dance teachers.

Each day dancers will learn a variety of dance styles including jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop and musical theatre. Dancers will also expand their creative and social skills with interactive activities, crafts, and games. If the weather permits, dancers will have the chance to get outside for some fresh air and play on their lunch break. All dancers will be accompanied by camp staff and supervised at all times.

At the end of the camp day on Fridays, families are invited to our dance camp showcase where their dancers perform their routines they learned all throughout the week!

Dance camp allows for new dancers to experience different styles of dance in a class setting, before registering for term come fall. For our experienced dancers, it is a great opportunity to maintain and continue developing their skill sets.

What should I bring and wear to camp?

We ask that dancers bring a small dance bag or backpack containing all of their belongings (water, shoes, sunscreen, hat, change of clothes, lunch and snacks). We recommend that dancers come wearing clothes that they are comfortable moving in (bodysuit, tights, shorts, tank top, leggings, t-shirt). For dance shoes, we recommend tap shoes and either jazz or ballet shoes for classes.  If a dancer doesn’t own tap shoes, they can wear character shoes or clean indoor shoes.

Nutrition breaks

There are 2 snack breaks and 1 lunch break per day. We kindly ask that all food is nut-free, and that dancers bring a refillable water bottle.
